Reunited FAR Planning More Shows

October 21, 2008

FAR, one of the touchstones of the mid-'90s post-hardcore revolution, has returned. Temporarily working under the pseudonym HOT LITTLE PONY, the band leaked a newly recorded cover song, "Pony", on MySpace and performed two secret shows at the Glass House in Pomona and The Troubador in Los Angeles.

Coming up the mid-'90s in the same Sacramento scene that spawned brother bands DEFTONES and WILL HAVEN, FAR started rolling full force with its first breakout album, "Tin Cans With Strings to You", in 1996. By the time the band released "Water and Solutions" in 1998, it was all but done. The group's mark went deep into the modern day emo and alterna rock scene, with Alternative Press naming "Water And Solutions" one of the top ten most influential records of 1998 in a recent retrospective.

Commented vocalist Jonah Matranga (also of ONELINEDRAWING, GRATITUDE and NEW END ORIGINAL): "It's hard to even figure out how the reunion happened, much less put it into words. Frankly, it really doesn't feel like a reunion at all. It's more like a conversation that's finally getting finished. The first show was completely overwhelming. That's the only word that keeps coming, overwhelming in the best way.'

While there is no long-term plans at the moment, more shows are to be announced shortly, including a five-date UK run in late November.
